"Halde" Wine Fest is an annual event that celebrates Armenia's rich winemaking heritage on the scenic slopes of Aragats Mountain. This festival offers wine enthusiasts, locals, and tourists a chance to explore premium wines, learn about ancient traditions, and enjoy the beautiful Armenian highlands.
The centerpiece of the festival is "Halde" wine, aged at the bottom of Lake Kari, located at an elevation of 3,185 meters on Aragats Mountain. This unique aging process, initiated by the Maran company on August 21, 2019, is the first of its kind in Armenia. The wine benefits from the serene, high-altitude conditions of the lake, which enhance its quality in a way that remains a delightful mystery.
During the festival visitors participate in wine tastings featuring premium wines from Maran Wine Company, enjoy a range of wines paired with delicious local food and learn about the winemaking process from expert sommeliers.
One of the festival's most anticipated events is the exclusive "Halde" wine extraction ceremony. Visitors observe divers as they dive under Lake Kari to retrieve the wine aged underwater for 12 months, a method that imparts unique qualities to the wine. Afterwards they sample this newly extracted wine, experiencing its exceptional flavor and character—a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
The Halde Wine Fest is an excellent opportunity to dive into Armenian culture, enjoy the stunning scenery of Aragats Mountain, and taste some of the finest wines the region has to offer.
